More patterning.

Patricia had been screen printing on fabrics to create some interesting lengths for scarves and wraps.

This reminded us of Mondrian's work, which although abstract was developed from looking at the rhythms of trees.

A paler version.

And monochrome. It shows how versatile one screen can be.

GTA Play Day

We've had a Play Day!  We decided to have a Drawing Day, tutored by Jenn, who took us through all sorts of techniques to free us up (drawing-wise, that is) and as you can see from the pictures, we found it fun and enjoyable.  Thank you, Jenn.

Caught you!

Sally suggested a photo of us as we were in the meeting, but there were too many to capture at once.

Viv is concentrating very hard on rolling her piece to put away.Ira is holding a lovely Waitrose Christmas card which involved cut out trees.

Deryll and Patricia are involved with something .You can just see Marilyn's piece on the table.

Here are some better views, she is trialling irridescence through weave.

She explained that she wrongly interpreted her design diagram which caused the hard line in the centre and that she will need to rectify this in the eventual final piece. We thought it was lovely anyway.
The threads in the final piece will also be much finer than these. It promises well.

New Year new work.

This month is already shooting by,it has been almost two weeks since we met at Deryll's.We tried out a new way of structuring the meeting.'Show and tell' is an important part of the meeting but passing the work around tends to set off individual conversations which slow progress. This time we put work out but decided to keep the comments to the group.Photos were taken at lunchtime instead of as we progressed.Although we were all present for the first time in ages not all work was photographed as some members had to leave and others put it away. What you see in the following posts is a selection.

Deryll is continuing her 'walks' ,this from the Lake District. She has committed her thoughts and rememberance of walks she has taken to cloth, using hand dyed fabrics and stitch she creates a visual memory.

Above a detail of another memory walk in progress.
