NEWARK UPDATE.
The house is still drying out and it is not possible to estimate what repairs are needed and how long they will take.It is disappointing but completely out of our control. We expect to be given an alternative date somewhere in the future when the house is restored to normal.Meanwhile we look forward to The South West Quilt and Textile show 30th August -1st September 2018.
To continue last posting:
Carol's children had each recently moved into new homes. Carol photographed the houses and made fabric and stitch copies of them for her diary.
Jane showed a beautiful portfolio of the work she did in City and Guilds on historic lace. Recently she had used her amazing computer skills to produce these printed samples, by isolating a single motif from the lace and trying out different colourways.
Debby had produced some small pictures for teaching purposes, using water soluble techniques.
She had found an interesting frame for a small picture; there were mixed views about it in the group!
Sally brought along her catalogue from the Grayson Perry exhibition at the Museum. She felt that reading it contributed greatly to her appreciation and understanding of the exhibition.
Viv had been putting together some kits based on Miao embroidery; they will be on sale at the exhibition of Miao textiles which she and Sally Sparks are mounting at the West Country Quilt and Textile Show 31st August - 2nd September this year.
