Viv had recently been along to an 'en plein air' drawing day with the 1904 group. They had spent the day at King's Weston house where she had spent time with Aquarelle pencils and a fine line pen capturing the flower borders.we wonder if this will filter in to her textile work.
in other news she was delighted to report that Kate and Amy ,from Bristol Museum had been along to photograph her part of the Miao textile collection she and Sally are donating .It has taken a very long time but it looks as if we shall soon be able to search and see the collection in high definition online.
Carol continues to dip into Stitch club workshops that take her interest .This time it was Bojagi given by Maryse Allard .This is a Korean technique which is a cloth made of fabric patches and translates as 'a covering or wrapping cloth' . It can be hand or machine sewn ,each patch is stitched so that the raw edges are enclosed in the seam. selvedge.org If you want to see more click on this link then search for Bojagi:Korean Textile Art.
She keeps meticulous notes on each of the workshops .
She is chair of Bristol Stitchers and showed a skill share workshop she had participated in on Punto Crespo. Apparently this is Peruvian embroidery and there are numerous 'how to' on Youtube if you would like to try yourself.
Bristol Stitchers are just starting their second year of talks ,workshops and meetings. If you are interested in finding out more click the link which will take you to their website.
