Debby has had a real spurt of creative energy as the exhibition draws closer. She has revisited work that had been left unfinished and unresolved .She is always creating so it’s no wonder there is always something she can pick up !
Her talents run to using different media like the machine stitched
hand coloured piece or a print ,both above .
This lantern was created in a Bristol Stitchers workshop and shows she is comfortable using three dimensions too .
This botanical contact print will no doubt turn up in something .
She had returned to this dry point print on fabric ,adding in deeper colour with Inktense pencils,
A favourite medium for colouring fabrics and adding detail.
She has used them with free motion stitch ,in this small quilted piece below .
This piece we saw last month had had a border added. She used some ice dyed fabric from a charity shop
For the inner border .Looking for a suitable fabric she came across a Calvin Klein duvet cover …….the right and wrong side was perfect to finish it off .
She has added some iridescent highlights to the beetles on this piece which are subtle .
but give a lovely glimmer to them.
She brought along the dry point piece in October as she had strengthened the colour .
She felt it was still lacking something so was pleased at her husband’s suggestion to add a …….slug!
It is a perfect solution to draw the eye.
She has a recurring theme of beetles so is exploring them in some extra pieces.
This one is silk painted on craft vilene .
It was World Textile Day recently and she went along ,unable to resist these from the African Fabric Shop
and this exquisitely embroidered small purse ,produced she thought by the Hmong people
and some jade beads.
