Woman's Hour Craft Prize

Alongside the touring exhibition of the Woman's Hour Craft Prize, venues around the country are hosting events to allow creative groups access to public spaces. This is to encourage interest in creative pursuits of all kinds.

Bristol Museum is taking part and has a 'Make Space' area within a gallery in the museum.Groups were invited to put forward proposals as to how they might make use of such a space. GTA replied and we were lucky enough to be given a slot on Tuesday July 12 th, the day we would next be holding our meeting. We will be there from 10.30-4pm on that day. We will have work on display and will have work in progress as well as holding our usual meeting. If you are interested to see how we work as a group do pop along. It should be an interesting and unusual meeting.

A Grand Day Out.

Our meetings are taking a different format over the next couple of months. We are always looking for ways to reach out and inform people of what we do.Part of this is trying new venues and ways of engaging with the public.
Our June meeting took us to Somerton to view the gallery in their historic space, with a view to possibly applying to exhibit there.

While we visited they had an exhibition by various artists 'The  Transformed Land' on in the main upstairs gallery space.

Also upstairs at the other end was a very welcoming cafe.

As you can see we availed ourselves of the facilities.Downstairs there is a really very well stocked gift shop with some very tempting items.
Later we took ourselves off to have a bite to eat and a wander around the town .
Thanks to Sally for the photos .
